Welcome to Willow

Willow Kids

Founded in the fall of 2004, The Willow School is an independent Kindergarten through Grade 8 School in Indian River County, Florida.

The Willow School is located on seven grassy acres in Vero Beach, Florida. The school currently consists of three multi–age classrooms, a large outdoor play field, climbing structure and swings. The property also has a large pond and surrounding wooded areas.

The Willow School offers a world class education to children in Kindergarten through Grade 8. This cutting edge curriculum is academically rigorous while encouraging personal responsibility for one’s own learning and thinking. The project based program interweaves hands on activities, projects, technology, community service and environmental awareness. Our relaxed, yet academically challenging approach provides Willow School students with the knowledge, skills and tools necessary to succeed in any college prep high school.

“When my son started at Willow the second day he requested to come to school early. He couldn’t wait to get there. That never happened at his old school!" Gina B. parent

Approach

AproachApproach

The Willow School believes in the small school concept. We purposely limit our class size to 15 to enable teachers to individualize the program for each child. Having a small class size also allows each teacher to know their children well and serve them not only academically, but socially and emotionally. Our school is like a large family- a nurturing, caring place where older children act as leaders and role models much as older siblings do in a large family.

The Willow School offers a superior educational program comprised of the fundamentals of reading, writing, math, social studies, civics and science. We combine this with our Enrichment Program that includes daily PE, Visual Art, Music, Drama and Spanish. We celebrate all aspects of art and its connection to learning, for we know that art enhances and supports analytical analysis, logic and mathematics.

Our skill-based program exceeds National and Sunshine State Standards and we are working toward becoming an International Baccalaureate (IBO) School.

Some of the curricular materials we use include:

  • Every Day Math
  • Wilson Language Materials
  • Wright Group and Write Source Language Arts Program
  • Discovery Works / Delta Science kits
  • Rosetta Stone Foreign Language Computer Program
  • Mission/Vision

To transform our world by providing a values-rich and academically meaningful education to children in grades K-8 that creates socially responsible lifelong learners inspired to realize their highest potential.

    Our students are encouraged to:

  • Develop habits of reflection, curiosity, independent thinking, and self-discipline
  • Foster the love of learning and attain the skills necessary to develop their individual potential
  • Become environmental stewards who promote respect for the earth and all its inhabitants
  • Embrace openness and respect for the diversity of human life, beliefs and cultures
  • Be prepared academically and emotionally for the high school program of their choice
