Application Procedure
Informational Tour and Interview
The Willow School application process begins with an informational tour and interview for both parents. Please call the school office to schedule an appointment. If you would only like a tour of our school, “Willow Walks” are scheduled the last Wednesday of every month at 12:00 noon. Please call to reserve your spot (772) 770-0758.
Application and Transcripts
An application form is included in your information packet. Please fill out the application for your child and submit it with a $50 nonrefundable fee. After we receive your application and current transcripts we will schedule a class visit for your child.
Class Visit
While classes are in session The Willow School requires a one- day class visit for applying students to experience our classrooms, as well as giving The Willow School staff an opportunity to fully evaluate each student. During this time, your child will be an active participant in the classroom and will be asked to participate in all activities. When classes are not in session we will substitute a one- hour student interview for the classroom visit.
Acceptance
The Willow School Admissions Committee will review your child’s current transcripts as well as the evaluation conducted by the staff during his/her visit. You will be notified of our decision within two weeks of the classroom visit or interview.
Registration
After your child has been accepted we ask for a $450 non-refundable registration fee along with a signed contract within one month of the date of your acceptance. This fee will reserve a place for your child and be applied toward registration and book fees.
Transcripts
After acceptance, please ask your child’s previous school to send copies of all tests, records and transcripts. These are required for our records and will allow us to more fully prepare for your child.
Waiting List
If a child has been accepted but the class is full, the child will be placed on a waiting list. The non-refundable $50 application fee will hold the child’s place on the waiting list.
Other Information
A child may enter Kindergarten if he or she is five (5) years old on or before September 1 of the current year, unless pre-approved by The Willow School Director. All children entering public or private schools in Florida for the first time must have proof of immunization against diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus, poliomyelitis, and rubella.
Scholarships
The Willow School is certified to accept state scholarships. If your child has an IEP (Individual Education Plan) or you are low income, there are scholarships available that pay all or some portion of tuition. You may find more information about these online at: www.floridaschoolchoice.org or on The Willow School Website.
Additional Scholarships
If you would like to be considered for a Willow School supplementary scholarship, a FACTS scholarship application (available from our office) should be requested after you have received an acceptance letter. This application must be completed and submitted by mail or on-line. FACTS typically requires 2 to 4 weeks to review your application. When The Willow School receives the FACTS review and has accepted your child, we will notify you of your scholarship award.
